Release of the draft Livingstone-Porcupine Hills Land Footprint and Recreation Management Plans and Public Consultation

The South Saskatchewan Regional Plan (2014, amended 2017) identifies the long-term vision for the region and the management intent for public land within the Green Area. With continued growth, expanding human development and pursuit of outdoor recreation opportunities, priority was given to develop the Livingstone-Porcupine Hills Land Footprint and Recreation Management Plans. These are multiple-use public lands with complex environmental, economic and social values that need to be considered.

As part of the ongoing implementation of the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan, Alberta Environment and Parks representatives have been working closely with stakeholders and First Nations on the development of the draft Livingstone-Porcupine Hills Land Footprint and Recreation Management Plans. These two management plans provide direction regarding human footprint and recreational activity within these planning areas.

You are invited to participate in the 30-day Public Consultation process by reviewing the draft plans and providing feedback online at https://talkaep.alberta.ca. The survey will remain open until April 26, 2018 at 4:00 pm.
