NAIT COURSE – MRST702 – MOTORCYCLE MECHANIC JOB READINESS

COURSE OVERVIEW

Love the sound of a finely-tuned motorcycle engine? Devoted to all things related to motorcycles? Picture yourself in an exciting and financially rewarding career as a Motorcycle Mechanic! This NAIT hands-on course is designed to prepare a person for an apprenticeship in the motorcycle mechanic trade. If you love tinkering with ATV’s and motorcycles as a hobby and need training in order to find employment in the industry, the MRST702 course is for you.

It’s expected that graduates will become employed in motorcycle repair, service or sales. The goal of this Motorcycle Mechanic Job Readiness course is to prepare graduates for entry level positions as motorcycle mechanics where they can begin their apprenticeship. Students will spend time in the classroom learning theory as well as a large portion of time in shop learning how to recognize, diagnose and repair mechanical issues. Students will work on many different brands and models of street, off-road and dual sport bikes. Students will have the opportunity to bring their own motorcycle for use in this shop class after consulting with the instructor.

This course offers a comprehensive curriculum in motorcycle maintenance and repair, including:

  • Shop Safety and Personal Protective Equipment
  • Introduction to motorcycles
  • Hand and power tools, and shop equipment
  • Common and precision measuring instruments
  • Major systems: brakes, wheels, tires
  • Drum and disc brake measurement, inspection and repair
  • Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) and proper PDI set up
  • Installation of various motorcycles and ATV accessories

Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a wallet card Certificate and be ready to begin a career as a Motorcycle Mechanic.
